Why Recertify?
Recertification is performed on high performance couplings, typically those with API 671 specifications, rotating at 1,800 RPM or higher.
Nearly all couplings taken out of service can be recertified, which plant operators with significant cost savings compared to purchasing new couplings.
Recertification results in couplings that are like new—for about half the cost.
Recertification lead times are 60% less normal lead times for a new coupling, which enables plant operators to minimize unplanned downtime and keep production on schedule.
Six Steps to Recertification
Couplings are disassembled and glass bead cleaned to remove surface corrosion and other surface anomalies.
A complete mechanical and metallurgical evaluation is performed to ensure all major components meet original specifications and are suitable for continued service.
Disc packs (where applicable) and all hardware to include bolts, nuts, washers and shims are replaced.
As needed, components can be manufactured to replace those deemed unserviceable or require upgrade.
Couplings are then reassembled and re-balanced in accordance with the OEM specifications.

What Recertification Does
Recertification brings the coupling back to like-new condition from damage that may have occurred during operation — including conditions that may not be visible with the naked eye. Factors that contribute to coupling wear include:
