DC Motors
LEESON® motors and DC Motors
The LEESON® brand offers an extensive range of direct current motors, delivering reliability, durability, and trustworthiness that is synonymous with the LEESON name. With over 50 years of excellence, LEESON motors has become a staple of the direct motor market.
Why Use a DC Motor?
With a direct current motor, speed is not dependent on the number of motor poles, which offers greater versatility for variable speed requirements. The magnetic field produced using high-strength permanent magnets requires minimal to no current from the power supply. This reduces current draw in remote or mobile applications while saving energy and reducing internal heat.
Applications DC Motors are Found Within
Common DC motor applications include conveyors, packaging machines, mixers, treadmills, printers, door operators, office automation, airless paint sprayers, and other applications requiring variable speed.
Types of DC Motors
Washdown Motors
Washdown motors come in a range of stainless steel exteriors, white epoxy finishes, and insulations that make them ideal for wet environments. These products are typically found in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical industries, and other washdown environments. Our portfolio includes products with full body encapsulation, severe washdown, high pressure leaning, and other washdown-specific features. Metric Motors
Metric motors come in IEC global designs that meet international specifications for use on machine tools, textile machinery, and other equipment with metric dimensions. Metric dimensions typically range from 48 to 56 inch frames, adhering to European requirements.
SCR Motors
A Silicon-Controlled Rectifier (SCR) drive takes AC voltage and converts it to DC voltage, making SCR motors ideal for variable speed applications. High voltage permanent magnet DC motors are often used with an SCR controller in applications that require adjustable speed and constant torque. SCR motors are widely used in operations requiring dynamic braking or adjustable speed/reversing capabilities.
