Mining Plant
McArthur River is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mine. This provides about 16% of the world’s production from mines in Canada, the US and Kazakhstan.
Construction of the McArthur River Operation began in 1997, with mining beginning in late 1999. The mine is located approximately 620 kilometres north of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Ore grades within the deposit are 100 times the world average. The operation can produce over 18 million pounds of uranium each year while mining only 150 to 200 tonnes of ore per day.
