Water Pollution Control Plant
The Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) is recognized in Ecojustice’s 2013 Great Lakes Report Card for significantly lowering discharge levels of phosphorus, ammonia and other toxic components into the Great Lakes system.
The Duffin Creek (WPCP) currently treats 340 million liters a day and will expand to treat 640 million liters a day. The Duffin Creek expansion will include a new head works building, six new primary treatment tanks, six new three phase aeration tanks, six new secondary treatment tanks, a new disinfection facility, two fluid bed reactors, energy recovery system in addition to the power plant expansion and system integration.
With these upgrades the Duffin WPCP will be one of the most sophisticated waste water treatment facilities on the Great Lakes.
