Gear Drives
Regal Rexnord is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and providers of gear drives. These gear drives are available in several configurations that are selected based on the space limitations of your system.
Gear Drive Configurations
Inline Gear Drives
Inline gear drives, which are also known as concentric gear drives, house the high and low speed shafts on the same horizontal and vertical planes. Inline gear drives are typically used in a wide spectrum of applications, such as unit or bulk material handling, or pumping or mixing applications. Inline gear technology is also used in specialty or niche applications such as residential elevators or large industrial sized ceiling fans.
Parallel Gear Drives
Parallel gear drives are configured with the high and low speed shafts parallel to one another on the same horizontal or vertical plane. Parallel gear boxes are typically used for high torque and high horsepower applications.
Right Angle Gear Drives
Right Angle gear drives utilize high speed and low speed shafts in a 90-degree (or right angle) relationship. Right Angle gear drives are commonly used on conveyors, but they are among the most universal and widely used gear drives.
Gearmotors
Regal Rexnord offers a gearmotor for inline and right angle drives with Browning the innovative taper shaft connection. In addition, Regal Rexnord can also bundle C-Face gear drives & motors to support OEM and project work. The short vide below demonstrates the benefits of the various gearmotor options available from Regal Rexnord.

Gear Drive Types
Regal Rexnord also offers multiple gear types, from worm gearing to bevel and hypoid gearing found in right angle gear drives, to helical and spur gearing found in in-line, parallel and right angle drives. Each of these gearing types offers unique advantages:
Worm gearing allows for a significant amount of speed reduction in small and compact right angle packages.
Bevel gearing is used primarily to turn a corner with the ability to have a small amount of speed reduction while turning that corner, although sometimes it is preferred to keep the speed the same.

Hypoid gearing is used and coupled with helical gearing to provide a more efficient right angle speed reduction solution.
Helical and spur gearing are found in right angle drives along with a bevel or hypoid gear set. This technology is used in a parallel or inline configuration. While spur gearing is more economical and good for low-speed applications, helical gearing gives a torque advantage and is better suited for high-speed applications.
Gear Drive Mounting
Gear drives can either be shaft-mounted or foot-mounted into a system. Similar to shaft arrangement, gear drive mounting is determined by the space limitations in the system.
Shaft-Mounted Gear Drives
Shaft-mounted gear drives require a torque arm to keep from rotating around the gear drive's low speed shaft. It is necessary that it's not bolted down rigidly as the gear box needs to float on the shaft of the machine in the application. Shaft mounting is preferred in certain applications, such as bulk material handling or conveying.

Foot-Mounted Gear Drives
Foot-mounted gear drives are mounted to a baseplate through bolt holes in their feet or drilled and tapped mounting holes in the bottom of the housing. They require a solid and rigid foundation to support the drive and the torque passing through.
Flange or Bracket Mounted Gear Drives
Sometimes the application may require a side mounting flange or bracket for wall mounting to the machine. This provides a space saving solution for securing the gear drive to the machine.
Regal Rexnord’s gear drive selection is broad enough that we believe we have the right gear drive for your application. If we don’t, we have the technical expertise and industry experience to design and manufacture a modified or custom gear drive tailored to your specific needs.
