LEESON® DC Motors Provide Power for Forklift Steering Unit
Industry
Forklift Operations
Problem and Solution
A forklift’s power steering unit places tremendous demand on the vehicle’s battery power supply. The customer needed a DC motor offering enough capability to power the hydraulic pump for a forklift power steering unit. To use the power from the forklift batteries, the motor needed to be rated at 24 Volts. Additionally, factors like variable speed controllability (especially at low speeds), a simple control system, and high starting torque were necessary for the application.
