Airport baggage handling is a unique application demanding high reliability, efficiency of operation and ease of maintenance. Many systems are made up of individual components meshed together.
Problem and Solution
The manufacturer did not have the resources to retrofit the guide rails of an existing application to another option. Regal’s Perceptiv Technologies team stepped in and evaluated the problem areas. The customer was then presented with a solution package consisting of System Plast® Nolu®-S guide rails. SpeedSet brackets and a turn-key installation service option were provided by Perceptiv Technologies. Other components included SyMAX Permanent Magnet AC motors to provide motion.

The SpeedSet brackets have greatly reduced the time required to change lane widths. In addition, the changes are less prone to error, resulting in increased production and greatly reduced downtime costs. Due to the turn-key and on-time installation, production was able to continue on schedule after the installation. SyMAX electric motors provided increased performance and high power density for a 1 to 2 frame reduction when compared to traditional induction motors.
