Motor Minute^™ Technical Tip – Evergreen^® EM Dual Voltage Motors

In this segment of motor minute I am going to talk about Evergreen® EM dual voltage motors.

Since the 13 SEER regulation in 2006, constant torque ECM motors have been commonplace in 230 VAC all electric air handlers and package units.

Since the 2019 FER regulation, constant torque ECM motors are now also commonplace in 115 VAC fossil fuel split systems and package units.

The Evergreen^® EM motor is now available in dual voltage models to cover both 115 and 208-230 VAC applications. This will reduce the amount of motors distributors need to carry and make it more cost effective for contractors to stock motors on their truck, allowing them more first-time completions.

The new dual voltage Evergreen^® EM motor will utilize an embossed voltage plug that easily installs in the side of the motor. The yellow plug is installed for 208-230 VAC applications and the white plug for 115 VAC applications. This versatile yet easy to install motor is capable of replacing constant torque ECM motors built by Genteq^®, US Motors^®* and Broad Ocean^®*, including constant torque ECM motors designed with PWM communication. That's why we call it ECM Made Easy™.
