Motor Minute™ Technical Tip – Genteq® Evergreen® Motors Debunked
Hi, Chris from Regal Rexnord here with your Motor Minute technical tip. Helping you become an HVAC motor pro one minute at a time.
Today’s Motor Minute™ topic is Genteq® Evergreen® Motors Debunked.
It seems like daily in tech support we are helping someone who is trying to install an Evergreen motor in an application it was not designed for.
This is frustrating to the contractor because the connections are not ECM Made Easy™ when it’s the wrong application.
This is frustrating to us because we work so hard to make it easy to select the correct motor.
This month I am going to take a moment to review all the Evergreen universal replacement motors, so you can see just how easy it is to select the correct motor and get the ECM Made Easy experience.
Evergreen IM and OM motors are designed to replace PSC motors. IM replaces indoor blower motors and OM replaces outdoor fan motors.
The Evergreen OM motor easily replaces PSC outdoor fan motors rated:
- 230 VAC
- 48 Frame
- CCW or CW
- 1/3 – 1/10 HP
- 1075 RPM
- 825 RPM
The Evergreen IM motor easily replaces PSC indoor blower motors rated:
- 115/230 VAC
- 48 Frame
- CCW or CW
- 1 – 1/5 HP
- 1075 RPM
Evergreen EM and VS motors are both designed to replace ECM indoor blower motors. EM replaces constant torque ECM motors and VS replaces variable speed ECM motors.
Evergreen EM motors replace standard 9-terminal constant torque ECM indoor blower motors including Genteq, US Motors®* and Broad Ocean®*, as well as constant torque ECM motors with non-standard connections such as Genteq Ensite® and Broad Ocean leads out motors.
Evergreen VS motors replace constant airflow (also referred to as variable speed) ECM indoor blower motors including Genteq and formerly branded GE®* products going back to 1992.
The easiest way to find the correct Evergreen motor is to start with our handy dandy “Genteq Evergreen Motor Selection Guide,” or what I like to call the cheat sheet. Pick the motor type you need by the application or picture and flip it over to find the exact stock number by HP, VAC, RPM and so on.
You can find this tool at regalmmu.com by clicking on “Literature Library.”
Quickly and easily cross reference any Genteq or formerly branded GE ECM indoor blower motor directly to an Evergreen motor using our handy dandy “Genteq ECM Motor Cross Reference Tool.”

On the home page of theDealerToolbox.com, click on “Genteq ECM Motor Cross Reference Tool.”
