Motor Minute™ Technical Tip – Evergreen® OM Outdoor Fan Motor – Installation Made Easy.
Hi, Chris from Regal Rexnord here with your Motor Minute technical tip. Helping you become an HVAC motor pro one minute at a time.
Today’s motor minute topic is “Evergreen® OM Outdoor Fan Motor Installation Made Easy.”
ONE Evergreen OM ECM motor stock # 6303R has the ability to replace single speed 48 frame PSC outdoor fan motors rated:
- 1/3 – 1/10 horsepower
- 1075 and 825 RPM
- CW and CCW
The Evergreen OM motor stock# 6303R is built with a remote located motor control that gives it multiple mounting advantages to simplify installation and increase compatibility
These mounting advantages include:
- Motor length 4.23”
- All angle mount
- Extended thru-bolts on both ends
- OEM mounting holes in the side of the motor
- OEM mounting holes in the end of the motor
The motor mounts in the same manner as the original motor.
The motor control is easily located on an interior surface.
There is a cable break between the motor control and the motor to simplify routing the wires. The wires are long enough to route the cable break into the electrical panel in most applications.
This is also where the motor’s rotation is selected.
- Connect color to color for CCW
- Reverse the blue and red wires for CW
The electrical connections are practically identical to the PSC motor. Remove the PSC motor wires from the capacitor and the contactor.
Connect the Evergreen OM black and white wires to either side of the contactor. Then connect the yellow wire with the black wire for 1075 RPM or the orange wire with the black wire for 825 RPM. The Evergreen OM harness is built with all of the terminals already installed on the wires to make installation as fast and easy as possible. There is even a piggy back terminal on the black wire for ease of connection to the speed wires. The speed wire connects directly to the piggy back terminal on the black wire so that both can easily be connected to the contactor.
On heat pump systems the yellow or orange speed wire simply connects to the defrost board, to maintain the sequence of operation in defrost.
