Motor Minute™ Technical Tip – Replacing Induced Draft Blowers
Hi, Chris from Regal Rexnord here with your Motor Minute technical tip. Helping you become an HVAC motor pro one minute at a time.
Today’s Motor Minute topic is replacing induced draft blowers.
Induced draft blowers are known by many names:
- Combustion motor / blower
- Venter motor / blower
- Inducer motor / blower
The induced draft blower is an integral component in 80% and 90% AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) furnaces and package units that combust natural gas or propane.
In 80% furnaces its function affects the combustion process at the burners and the flow of combustion gases through the heat exchanger to the outlet of the induced draft blower.
In 90% furnaces it also affects the amount of combustion air provided to the burners through the intake pipe and the flow of combustion gases to the outside through the exhaust pipe.
We build many universal replacement motors for many Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) applications.
We strongly recommend replacing induced draft blowers only with the OEM part or OEM approved replacement part.
This part is simply too important for the proper operation of the appliance and the safety of the occupants of the home or building to use something that is not engineered and built to the exact specifications of each unique furnace and heat exchanger design by each manufacturer.
The FASCO® brand still leads the industry in OEM and OEM approved replacement induced draft blowers.
