Grain Handling Solutions
One of the most important pieces of equipment in the grain handling industry is the screw conveyor. Screw conveyors are made up of a mechanism and a tube (or shoot) that uses a rotating helical screw blade to move grain. Producers depend on screw conveyors to move and store large quantities of grain. The best screw conveyors are built to ensure dependable power, performance and longevity in demanding environments with extreme duty cycles.

The farm product storage and warehousing industry’s performance depends largely on the performance of the upstream agricultural sector and related international trade. Industry operators generate revenue by transporting, storing, and packing agricultural goods. Farm-level decisions on when to store products and how much of that agricultural output to store are subject to a wide array of volatile factors. As a result, the industry makes large shifts from year to year. Weather patterns affect crop yields and global production and demand drive prices. Storage decisions are then made by farmers attempting to sell their goods profitably at market.

The agricultural price index measures the relative value of agricultural goods in the United States. While there is a wide array of factors that drive farmers’ decision process for storage activity, lower prices tend to increase storage rate. When prices fall, farmers tend to rely on storage to keep products until the price appreciates and they can be profitably sold.
Per Capita Wheat Flour Consumption
Consumer demand for wheat products determines the amount of grain grown in a given year. This factor affects demand for storage facilities and services since wheat is one of the top three most consumed and stored grains in the United States.
