For decades, Permanent Split Capacitor motors (PSC motors) were the workhorse of the HVAC/R motor segment. While regulations and energy efficiency concerns have moved the segment to Electronically Commutated Motors (ECMs or EC motors), PSC motors are still the largest segment out in the field. Contractors can expect to continue working on PSC motors for another 15 years or more.
